About us
Learn German America
βAt Learn German America (formerly JacobiTeacher), we offer highly personalized, professional, and engaging German language learning services that cater to students of all backgrounds, regardless of their cultural origin, language level, or age. We are committed to providing flexible, non-restrictive regulations and curricula that allow students to achieve their personal learning goals. Our programs are designed to adapt to the needs of each learner, making the language learning process more intuitive and personalized.
Learning a new language can be a socially challenging experience, especially when trying to bridge the gap between cultures. JacobiTeacher, under Learn German America, fosters positive and dynamic learning environments that help students overcome these challenges. By using blended learning education and brain-friendly language techniques, inspired by experts like John Dewey, Kersten Reich, and Vera Birkenbihl, we ensure that language learning is not only effective but also enjoyable. Our approach is centered on real-world conversations, ensuring our students gain fluency both in grammar and social interaction.
German is a highly regulated language with a complex set of rules. At Learn German America, we emphasize the importance of mastering these rules and understanding when and how to use them to your advantage. But we also recognize that language is not just about rules, it’s about communication. Our core approach focuses on helping students navigate the balance between grammatical accuracy and practical communication, while fostering an appreciation for the subtleties of the language.
Communication styles between German and American cultures differ significantly. Americans often communicate more indirectly, using modal verbs to maintain a flexible social atmosphere. Germans, on the other hand, value precision and directness, which is reflected in their use of adverbs to convey meaning clearly and without ambiguity. This can sometimes make German communication appear more direct or even aggressive. Understanding this cultural difference is essential for mastering the language and successfully engaging in German conversations.
β
At Learn German America, we integrate brain-friendly, immersive learning methods to help students navigate these cultural and linguistic differences. By combining structured rules with a deep understanding of cultural nuances, we prepare students to speak accurately and confidently in authentic German conversations. Our goal is to make learning dynamic, practical, and enjoyable.
β
We focus on the following objectives to ensure a well-rounded learning experience:
-
Create enjoyable and practical social situations that encourage the use of language skills in real-world contexts.
-
Provide stimulating learning environments that keep you engaged and aligned with your goals throughout your learning journey.
-
Offer individualized coaching to support and guide you, helping you stay motivated and on track.
-
Use diverse media to support grammar learning, vocabulary building, and improve listening comprehension.
We also bring our expertise in political education into the learning process. With a strong background in both German and American social science, politics, and history, we provide students with a broader understanding of the political and social dynamics between Germany and the United States. We approach political topics transparently and in a balanced way, ensuring that discussions are optional and never forced. This political insight enriches the learning experience and offers students a deeper understanding of the cultures involved, particularly beneficial for parents and students interested in a comprehensive, culturally informed education.

Our Vision
β
After collaborating for over a decade with both the German and American public school systems, as well as private language services, we have recognized the need for a more personalized and flexible approach to German language learning in the United States. Over the years, tighter regulations by the German government have made it increasingly difficult for Americans to access high-quality German language education. These regulations have created an inflexible learning environment, often making it harder for American learners to fully engage with German language and culture.
While institutions like the Goethe Institute have made strides to bridge this gap, their offerings sometimes lack an understanding of American values and fail to fully appreciate the unique connection between Germany and the United States. At Learn German America, we see this as an opportunity. We believe that American learners need a platform where they can learn German in an environment that respects both German and American cultural interests. This is why we emphasize cultural exchange and respect for personal learning paths, integrating practical language use into everyday conversations.
Using tools like dialogues, Hueber’s digital learning materials, Google Classroom, learning games and immersive language practice, we ensure that our students receive the highest quality education. Our approach prioritizes real-world interaction and cultural understanding, while respecting the individual learner’s journey, whether online, in person, or through our innovative hybrid programs.
We are here to bridge the cultural divide, creating a space for students to not only learn a language but also gain a deeper appreciation for the rich history and connections between Germany and the United States.
